DeBordieu, Hole #1, par 4
“Golf course architects Pete and P.B. Dye will quickly introduce you to the beauty and challenge of this course on the first hole, a slight dogleg to the right. A thin ribbon of water runs in front of the trees and the right is flanked by a series of mounds and hillocks reminiscent of Scotland’s rolling courses. Knock your drive straight up the middle, avoiding the mounds, for a faded shot will leave you with a blind approach to the green. The elevated green is receptive to a well-placed iron shot. A yawning depression to the green’s left will scoop up any misdirected ball and seriously test your wedge game.” (copy courtesy of the DeBordieu Club website.)
