TRUE VALUE….and I’m not talking about the hardware store!
With so many short sales and foreclosures on the market today, many times, true value is hidden. To some, like beauty, value may just be in the eye of the beholder. A character in a play by Oscar Wilde said that “a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing” is a cynic. In today’s real estate market, particularly at DeBordieu, just south of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, I would call that man, who looks at nothing but numbers, unwise.
On the surface, there are some incredible “deals” out there. Some show up as short sales or foreclosures. Others are hidden, by their asking price.
Yes, of course buyers should look at distressed properties today. But that is not all to consider. Value exists on many different levels: physical, emotional, and spiritual.
Physical value is obvious and can be measured in most cases by a property’s price/sq.ft., and the features it offers such as the number of bedrooms, the age, and the exterior finish.
An emotional quotient is added to the value equation when considering the property’s view from the back porch, the distance to the beach, and the picture that is painted in the buyer’s mind when envisioning the family gathered around the dining room table for a holiday celebration.
Value is expanded exponentially when the spiritual aspect is considered. Sometimes referred to as a “gut feeling,” most buyers know when they are in THE home, or walking on THE lot. It “speaks” to them.

DeBordieu’s homes and villas rent on a weekly basis in the summer, and for a minimum of two nights during Winter, Spring and Fall. During the summer, most homes rent from Friday to Friday, and most villas rent from Saturday to Saturday.
Each privately owned home and villa is uniquely appointed and equipped for comfort and leisure.

Some are rustic and casual, while others are more fancy and fabulous!
