On to the Back Nine
DeBordieu’s #10

Ok…..you’ve tallied up your score, stopped by the 19th Hole for a sandwich and your favorite beverage. You've got your second wind. You are ready to tackle DeBordieu’s back nine. C’mon now….you can ‘Dieu” this!

“Although it is a slight dogleg left and you will want to keep your drive to the right, beware of the stand of pines on that side which will block your approach shot, should you find your ball behind them. The fairway slopes devilishly downward toward the right, guiding your ball in the direction of the trees. The green is protected to the right and left front by the Dyes’ ever present bunkers.”

But wait,….there, right off the green….you see a small pink surveyor's ribbon, indicating that there is a lot for sale. You think to yourself, “Whoa….what a spectacular view I would have if I built a house right there!” And you would be right!

Click on one of these pictures for details on that great lot. Then email me at TroiKaz@DeBordieu.com, or call me 843-455-4523, and let’s go check it out!

Rub-a-dub TUB????? or Luxury Shower?
What's your preference?
As stated in an article in the Charlotte Observer today, many folks in the remodeling or building process are opting to do away with the over-sized whirlpool or garden tub and go with a luxury shower. That's true also with some homes at DeBordieu, but by in large, we find more Whirlpool Tub/Luxury Shower combos.
Pictured here are some of the Master Baths in homes currently on the market that feature Luxury Showers.
Click on the picture to get details and a virtual tour of the home. (It's very hard to capture the entire bathroom is just one shot.)
If you would like for me to send you links to homes that match your search parameters, please give me a call at 843-455-4523, or email me at TroiKaz@DeBordieu.com.

Remember the Bagpipes on Hole #9?
The private DeBordieu Club Golf Course opened for play in 1987. I remember, like it was yesterday, seeing and hearing that bagpiper walk very slowly down hole number nine toward the crowd of eager DeBordieu Club members waiting to tee off. It was a great moment! You won’t hear the bagpipes today, but here’s what you can expect from hole #9:
“The Dyes require that you finish the first half of the course with a blind drive on this tricky par five. Knock your ball up onto the hill rising 13 feet from the lake level. Stay toward the right, away from a long finger of lake that runs along the left. Where it ends, a thick natural area begins. Keep your approach shot straight, for the left is guarded by mounds and pot bunkers, with bunkers on the right and behind the green.”

There is a great lot for sale on number nine. For details, click on the picture, email TroiKaz@DeBordieu.com, or call me at 843-455-4523.

DeBordieu Club, #8
DeBordieu Club, just south of Pawleys Island, SC, features a championship 18-Hole golf course designed by Pete and P.B. Dye. Noted as one of Pete and P.B. Dyes favorite designs, the links style course at DeBordieu has been consistently ranked among the top 10 private clubs in South Carolina.
The golf course opened in 1987 and features an outstanding mix of Pete Dye's design qualities set in the beauty of the South Carolina Low Country and surrounded by an abundance of natural wildlife.
The highly regarded links course plays to more than 7,000 yards from the championship tees, and offers a set of tees to provide enjoyable golf for players of all abilities. The greens are planted in bent grass, the fairways are Bermuda, and the rough is Paspalum, all providing for an interesting round of golf!
Today's featured hole is #8. "This is another target golf hole, requiring golfers to put their tee shots on the long green or face several formidable perils. A lake borders the entire left side of the fairway and green. Depending upon tee placement, you may be required to cross a portion of it or none at all. The right side features soft mounding and two good-sized bunkers."
The arrow in the picture to the right points to a very interesting homesite with great views of the lakes on both #8 green and #9, and is located just a quick golf cart ride from DeBordieu's oceanfront Beach Club. Click on the picture for details.

Here’s one way to stay young…
….Have your Master Bedroom Upstairs!
Some folks like them up because they want to be closer to their sleeping children.
Others like to have more, open, entertaining space downstairs.
But the number one reason people give me for loving their master bedroom upstairs is that climbing those stairs keeps them looking and feeling young!
If you’re one of those people, there are some very interesting properties on the market at DeBordieu that feature upstairs master suites. A couple of these also feature a bedroom on the main living level as well, which many baby boomers tell me they like to have for their aging parents who come to visit. Click on each of these pictures for details and virtual tours. For others, give me a call or shoot me an email, TroiKaz@DeBordieu.com.

Thursday, March 3, 2011

It’s been an interesting week. There is a whole lot of activity on the real estate front. So I was primed for my Bible Study on Psalm 127, which was, in part, about work. In the mean time, a wonderful, young man I used to work with at Wild Dunes (about 100 years ago) passed away this week after a battle with cancer. When I’m done writing this, I’ll be heading to his funeral in Charleston.

The Psalm 127 study got me thinking about my faith, if and how it is apparent in my work. I have been blessed with a few really great gifts and talents, and an absolutely beautiful place to use them, for which I am extremely grateful. It got me thinking whether or not I was giving back, doing the work that God has called me to do, not JUST sell real estate at DeBordieu.

And then I thought about Kris, my friend, who asked me many years ago to read the scripture at his wedding. I was honored then, to take part in the beginning of that next chapter in his life, but today, it means even more. What is it he and his bride saw in me, at the work place, even back then before I was “on fire,” that lead them to ask me to do those readings? So even though I haven’t had much contact with Kris and Jessica over the past few years, I consider it an honor to be there today, as he starts this next chapter of his journey in heaven.

I was reminded this week that PEOPLE are at the center of Christian work, even in the workplace. “We are called to do His work wherever we are.” According to Psalm 127, “If God doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks.” Amen.
